handplanes and body surfing is so much fun. you learn so much about the wave energy and pocket. love glenn's interpretation of the tray:

  • While my inner Hawaii-annabe is telling me to swipe a tray from McDonalds, I think it will be flippers-only for now.

  • I use a hand plane and fins. The handplane makes a huge difference. Learn from my mistake and buy fin teathers for big days otherwise you'll lose your fins. I lost two pair In heavy surf before I even knew what a fin teather was.

  • Making planes is fun and they really do make a difference. I hurt my knee earlier this summer and havent been able to surf much this summer. Bodysurfing is the best. Yesterday was kind of awesome.

  • I use a plane in medium surf. In big surf they are a a liability and can rip out your shoulder. In smaller surf I like to be able to paddle more. But they definitely changed the game for me and got me surfing down the line and in the pocket.
Now to blow your mind even more, pick up a triathlon wetsuit. Ultra slick and tons of buoyancy.
