  • So-I'm into this whol "power surfing" movement, becasue I'm having a very difficult time landing any airs---now I do take in consideration that most of the guys busting big airs weigh a lot less than I do-and are much shorter-but that's just an excuse.

I feel like my style is very much where I want it to be right now-but I can't land sh** for air-any feedback?

  • It's kind of annoying-I don't know if you have seen any of the new clips on Sirfline-but these kids are busting air like it's no big deal-did you guys see that guy from Brazil? Flip-alley mute thingy-I copuldn't believe it!! I guess I'll just have to live through Grom when he starts busting airs...

For now-I'll say I'm a power-surfer and not into all that air crap!

  • my first suggestion would be to lose the longboard and get one of those fancy little shortboard thingies.  they really weigh a lot less.  after that you should be well on your way.  let me know how it goes!

  • LOL!

Bro get on a skateboard & hit up a local skatepark, practice you front side ollies on a nice steep quarter pipe or just hit a mini.  Im not a short boarder but I saw this pro a long time ago saying thats how he practiced learning airs & also he said just a lil ollie off the lip set him up nice landing. Learning an air 1rst is important, Landing it is the next phaze, then hieght comes later after youve learned those 2 steps well. Ollie to Disasters he siad was the closest simulation he could describe to  getting into airs when your beginning & wanna practice on a skateboard on a ramp. Hope that helps man.

Yeah-but I'm not going to lie-I love some of that tech stuff. Look at Rodney Mullen-he would beg to differ that tech tricks are for kids-that guy about invented every tech trick out there-and he's still busting them!

That's it-I'm just going to Longboard

  • VL...i think he was referring Kechley (sp), as in Matt Kechley (surfboards).  he was guy back in the 80's who was one of the air pioneers, and he did some really ugly olley type stuff.

come on RD, this is sick and you know it... http://www.surfline.com/video/vids/2005/july/jsps/marcos_dl_qt.cfm
You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

  • VL im having the same issue. for me to get enough speed to launch i have to drive hard off the bottom and get really vertical. Its pretty impossible for me to actually land it anywhere but on the back with all the upward momentum. When i can figure out how to launch at more of an angle ill be in luck. Good luck with it.
