  • Sad news out of Puerto Rico today. Brian Ward, well known to all of us in Long Beach and a staple in Puerto Rico, passed away today while surfing. Brian was a talented, intense surfer and he will be missed by so many, including of course Shane and the rest of his family. Many of you who know Brian will also know that amongst many other things, Brian started the King and Queen of the Beach contest in AB/LB all those years ago - a contest that has grown to be an end of summer staple and right of passage, so to speak, for so many talented young surfers in LB. Brian's influence and legacy will live on through these young surfers, as well as his many, many friends, for years to come.

    Rest in peace, Brian.

  • Fuck !!! Loved surfing with Brian and Shane . Would always see him at a special sheltered fickle spot during huge Noreasters at high tide . Him and Shane . I never a Long Beach local obviously but we surfed together a lot , and as fellow firefighters ( him Lb ) maybe that's why he treated me with respect and shared waves .
Please forward funeral  / wake you details when they become available

  • Wow, he was a good guy from the bits of interaction I've had with him. I remember him getting absolutely barreled on a bomb during a hurricane swell and running up to the board walk after surfing it to the sand so stoked.

    RIP
