Montauk — Does This Break Have A Name?

  • Been so long since there was good weekend surf out East, I was stoked to see 3-4 foot forecasts on Sunday. Loaded up the wagon with longboards—9-6, 10, 12—and headed for Montauk. Stopped in at Air and Speed. Total ghost town. Stu said it's been tumbleweeds for weeks.

It may have been 3-4 feet at Ditch Plains, but it was completely blown out by the wind. Nobody out. Just a very bummed surf-bro having hangover coffee and watching the foamy mess. I headed out to the lighthouse and Camp Hero (they're no longer manning the gates btw) and got to the parking lot along the bluffs.

[Redacted to protect privacy and decency and decorum.]

So anyway, where the hell was I? I've seen lots of names for the breaks out there: [redacted], but none of them seem to exactly line up with this spot. [Redacted] I was actually surfing just west of here.

Finally, anybody know how you get a parking pass for one of the numbered slots along the access road during high season? I've got the Empire Pass, but have mostly stuck to [redacted].

  • If you have to ask the question of whether or not you should post it...you probably shouldn't post it.

I am pretty sure they call this spot, "none of your phuqing business" its sits due west of another spot called "brooklyn blow ins ruined surfing" farther east is another spot called "you should know better than to shlt in other peoples backyards".  Oh montauk, how they've ruined you.

Thanks, Old Soul, for a considerate response. I totally get it. Am just trying to find out some info from the community. Hungover dude was at Ditch, so I couldn't really ask him.

I took out all the bits about where this is exactly. Hopefully nobody thinks "Camp Hero" is a trade secret.

Onefinookas, however, will likely never get over the fact that anybody from NYC gets in the water. I've been surfing out East pretty much every weekend for the past four years. So if you noticed that the quality of your surf experience has plummeted in that time, I take full responsibility. It's all my fault. Crucify me on a kookbox and pierce my side with a bonzer skeg. Pour hot sex wax on my privates and crown me with a turban of ragged-out board shorts. But know that on the third day, I will rise again—and paddle out to your very favorite secret spot and steal all of your waves forever and ever. May ye be dropped-in upon without end in this world and the next. Amen.

[Meanwhile, Finook, you should modify your reply so that the covert intel doesn't continue to be spewed across the universe in perpetuity.]

Anyway, if anyone actually wants to help out, I still wouldn't mind knowing what it's called—pm's are private and won't be broadcast to the world.

  • So you didn't take down the post, nice. I'm sorry my sarcasm hurt your feelings, I'm surprised hungover ditch guy didn't offer you a warm cup of shut the Phuq up and mind your business.  Four years you say, wow, didn't realize you were a local.
