  • I think the bars are actually better by the sticks...thats why more people are going over them...  They should be gone or bigger.  If that thing was sticking up outta of the water more I dont think I would have hit it.  a bigger sign or something would be nice....The sun also blinded me so thats a factor in my injury.  it still effing hurts by the way. im out for a while

yup, there are lefts and rights that set up on the inside that will take you right over or into them depending on tide and which side of them you are on.

  • It was really really hard getting off the wave this morning.  The best section was right on them.  Rick Kane and I came close a few times.
You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

  • one of those long bendy orange pendant flags that kids used to attach behind their bicycles could be fixed to the existing poles? where can you find one of those?

I just have trouble seeing the pole without anything at the top of it, or with the sign turned exactly sideways.

  • At least it isn't like this. Pacific Ocean Pier after the fire. I'm sure you've seen footage of Dora and some of the Z-Boys doing the spike slalom.

(didn't post the last time, I must have messed something up...)

  • I have to say, theyer a pain but they have their place, Just like any place, you have to learn about the environment. I only worry about how things will be effected if theyre moved or cut. I compared those spike to some reefs or that Peir before. Theyre an unatural structure placed there for a reason. waves have been arond NY for longer then those things or the jetties. Ask the old timers about the waves before the jetty. Or where the water line was & it sounded so epic. All of them have said, it was so much better. I dont kow, I wasnt there but sure sounded sweet.  I say throw a few death spikes in front of the take off zone & see what happens. lol!
