  • Went out for dawn patrol this morn, and expected to meet my some friends- but some decided to wait on the tide and headed out around 10am.  The whole time I was on the water I was thinking about how much better it was probably going to be with less water in the way of those offshore knee high swells.  When  we caught up later and I asked him how their session was- he seemed really disturbed and mentioned  fact that on the walk to the beach from his car he saw "two dead fighting dog's strung up by their necks hanging from the boardwalk." Who in their sick mind would do such a thing? I know downtown can be a bit rugged- but that's strait EVIL.

  • Rockaway has a major problem with Dog fighting.
Thug life. Project poor whatever, a tradition brought over from god knows what country or island.
A lot of it comes from DR, but a lot of it come from Pakistan and Guyana as well.
And lets not forget our own "Southern traditions"
Sick, stupid, ignorant below human people who do this.

The further you go into far Rockaway the worst it gets.
There was an issue at the Harbor thats too long and complicated to explain.
    But..

The cops seem to not care about the situation, and are not going to get involved.
Not high on the priority list, but thats a whole different topic.

If you have a small dog, be careful someone does not steal it to use as a dog baiting dog.
As in feeding it to a pitbull.
Yes Im serious Im not being sarcastic or ironic or whatever.

  • in the mid 90's there was a dog fight ring behind casino auto, really screwed up.  Its a giant WTF, they should just set up an MMA ring and beat the shlt out of each other instead.

  • I'm ill.  We hear bad barking/howling...a LOT.  I know there's not a lot of good going on in those situations.  Neglect or worse.  The only thing I can tell myself is those dogs are out of the clutches of those f*cks -- unless seriously, they were tied up & hung themselves trying to escape.  there's some soul-crushing sh*t that goes on.  I'm reminded of that almost everyday.

  • and for what it's worth -- ASPCA department against cruelty is a resource -- I think local cops refer to them anyway.
the level of low & worthless out there -- what's starting to scare me is that I'm becoming less surprised by it by the day.

  • Yeah it's really twisted- and i see it a bit in my neighborhood, and ain't scared to stand up to man whos is beating his dog.  It's the damn feral dogs they've trained you have to worry about.  bummmer...
had no idea about the marina, make sure i never go there

  • i also tell people (sometimes, I'm not stupid) to pick up their dog sh*t when I see it left in a steaming pile --- people who treat their animals poorly sure as hell ain't picking up the poop -- evidence is everywhere

  • I think there is at least one house down here at 69th and bayside that has fighting dogs. Hear some sounds of abuse, but not really sure which house and don't really feel comfortable snooping around. Rockaway has a ton of people with mistreated animals and it's very disturbing and probably the thing that has shocked me the most about moving here.
