  • Basement filled with about 2 feet of water and I'm feeling pretty lucky that's all we got. However I'm worried about mold etc. and want to have it professionally cleaned.

Has anyone hired a company to come in and sanitize / clean after flooding yet. If so any companies you would recommend?

    Thanks.

  • The big companies have a waiting list.  I used Servepro and it took alot of calls and nice nice talk to get an appointment.  It was great to have someone knowledgeable tell me that, no it was not just a little wet, it all needed to go, and assure me that when they were done mold and bacteria would be taken care of.  My crew was from Texarkana and were professional and nice.  They are expensive, but charge you half and get the rest from the flood insurance, since that is about the deductible.

Locally, Bill Palazzo of Palazzo Construction, also a longtime surfer, has a good crew who does the clean up.  He has done brick/patio work for me after Irene, and it all survived completely unscathed.

  • Thanks for the info.  I was looking at ServPro, and then I saw some things online like "Flooded.com" but I can't find any reviews.  And at this stage, I'm not joining Angies list....
