  • Putting this out there again. As some of you may have read, we are heading into an El Nino phase this winter which means a wetter, more miserable winter than normal.

For many, this means that your training moves inside and those long and sometimes barefoot runs are about to become motononous miles on a treadmill. After the North Pole, South Pole via San Diego, what's the fun in that?

Playing full court hoops will keep you in shape, and improve your quickness and coordination in the process. I figure that if we can get 12-15 people to commit to one night a week, then we should be able to get one of the local schools to commit to renting their gym out pretty cheaply.

  • I am thinking of joining Brroklyn Sports club this winter for the pool, believe they have a few indoor courts, in case getting a local gym does not work out. Will let you know that the local schools are usually booked when it comes to the gym from CYO and basketball clinics

  • I was so excited for the YMCA pool until I heard that it's going to have something like 4 lanes. Any idea if that's true? If so, good luck ever getting a lane if you're a 9-5 cubicle monkey like myself.

You might be surprised, that is if you are willing to swim a bit later at night, like after the post work rush.
I find that around 7:30 -8 pm most city pools get pretty quiet. the Y that I use {Dodge on Atlantic ave} is open until 11pm on weeknights. I don't know what the hours will be like at that Y in Rock....
It's no better to be safe than sorry....

  • You have no idea how many hours I spent trying to be good at basketball.  The endless hours upon hours of shooting with minimal to no gain.  I finally came to realize it's just not my sport....  I can play defense though....
