  • You know that multicolored tape that was made so popular the Beijing Summer Olympics?

    Is it quackery?

    It looks like quackery.
So heavy you can't even pick it up.

  • It really does look like quackery. i have to say, however, i've had some PT's use it on me, and even though i doubted it, it did seem to work. other than looking funny, the downside of using it is really low and i did experience some relief.

  • not going to venture and say yes or no in an absolute way....i'de say invest $10 in a non brand (ie not KT-tape or Rock-tape), something more genre, maybe this:

    http://www.lymphedemaproducts.com/products/kinesio-tex-gold-tape.html?gclid=CJqy5OGQl74CFQEaOgod10EAZA

search up taping methods relating to your effected area and give it a go.
worst case scenario it doesn't work for you and you spent 10 bucks.

    btw
read an article about the benefits of placebo in modern medicine...
so don't knock down placebo effect... ;)

  • i expected it NOT to work, but it did provide relief, so unclear about placebo effect. i would compare it to if you are working with a trainer and they tell you to squeeze a certain muscle while doing an exercise and then they push on that muscle, it helps you become aware of the muscle and how to activate it better.

again, pretty limited downside. i think there is a technique, though: i suspect it's pretty important how you are taped.

  • Placebo or not. Who cares?  If you feel better, that is all that matters.
