  • Anyone do it yet? Unless a Q52 is magically waiting for me tomorrow morning, I may take the 815AM departure for a spin.

  • Okay, I'll be doing this again.

The Seastreak Ferry arrived on time at B108 8:15 and arrived at Pier 11 at 9:05. There were maybe 20-25 people and ample, comfortable seating. It took me about 20 minutes to walk to my office, but the comfort difference between the A-Train or QM 17 schlep and taking a ferry via Jamica Bay is immeasurable. Midtown and uptown folks can get the 123 trains with the 4-5 trains a little further up the block at Wall Street.

I thought you could also take the ferry to 34th street.  no?

  • Yes, you can but the people who were going to 34th had to switch boats at Pier 11 this morning.

My feeling is that it is probably better for business, for those going to midtown or anywhere west of Madison, to get a subway downtown and continue the commute that way.

The alternative is to switch boats at Pier 11, then get on a crosstown bus at 34, and then get whatever subway you need to complete your commute.

Folks that work in midtown can avoid that mess by taking the ferry to Pier 11 and then walk over to Whitehall for the N/R, or Wall Street for the 123/45.

  • With the Rockaway Park-bound A-Train out of commission, the MTA is subsidizing our commute. It's $2 each way to-and-from B108th in Rockaway.

Nice! break out the Thurston Howell the Third outfit and belly up to the bar for the (hopefully not 3 hour) tour home
