Any Hoboken surfers out there?

  • I just moved out here a couple of weeks ago from San Francisco. When I lived in NY, I was more often than not surfing the R*ck. Now that I'm in Jers...it's gotta be pretty good for me to make the trek out there...thus my point. I've got a car, and am usually down for the cause if it's good...any other Hobokeners in the surf community?

Probably easier, and less expensive, to surf Jersey, no? Going through manhattan unless its 4am is not fun.

  • Why Hoboken?  By the way, La Isla on Washington has good, cheap Cuban eats.

VL I'm in N. Jersey, due west of you about 9 miles in Bloomfield, Essex.  I often surf Long Beach and occasionally Rock.  The trip is not as bad as you think.  Living in Hoboken is essentially no different than living on the west side of Manhattan.   I just make my call on where to go based on the wind.  Anyway, I'm in NJ and often travel to NY to surf, if you want to share a ride some days, shoot me a pm.

"Lets have a war.  It can start in New Jersey!"  Fear.

I know, I know, people in Hoboken would probably be pretty offended by the comparison.

Kidding.  I just meant vis a vis getting out to LI to surf, the trip from Hoboken probably isn't much longer than it is from most places on the west side of Manhattan.  In some cases, its probably the same or less.

  • I live about 3 miles north of you in edgewater.I surf ny/nj when theres waves and winds cooperate. Depending on traffic I can get to either ny/nj spot in less than an hour.Although travelling every time you want to surf kind of sucks($),it does have its benefits(more offshore days). 8)

  • i am in weehawken and surf both ny/nj depending on wind direction/size.  driving thru nyc is pretty easy at 4am, and getting back in to work (in nyc) by 10am is not too bad...

put a lot of mile$ on the car in july, but well worth it.

  • OK - next swell - I think we should round up some the crew in this area and hit it on the shore. Keep an eye on the swell models...PM me if you're down!
