  • I'm going to DP tomorrow - probably a Branch that is Long - anyone else going?

I've got a 1:30 meeting back somewhere in the middle of queens, wish I could go! It looks pretty farking promising where you're headed - perhaps not epic size, but damn......enjoy, my friend!!

  • I hit the Branch that is Long this morning - 3-4ft, noone out for an hour - amazing sunrise, fun little barrels coming through...so, so glad I charged it! Water was surprisingly warm! Outside, not so warm.

  • yeah sunrise/DP was the call, dropped to knee hi by 9, fizzeled out by 10. Fun lefts and rights at the appropriate E swell spots.

  • hey there -

after living and starting my surf life in hoboken, it is crazy easy to get to ny to surf for dawn patrol.  get an ez pass, which makes it quicker and cheaper, you can also take the hov lane if you have others with you, back to the city.

i have a friend out in the burbs that i would surf with, i will try to get you in touch with him and the small surfing community of hoboken (2 others) that i know of.

  • Jersey City here. Spent the last couple years in CA surfing Pleasure Point.  Moving back to Jersey and dealing with the winter sucks! Haven;t surfed in 3mths. Maybe if someone can motivate to buy a 5mil suit Id be up for some surf. Hit me up if any local surfers are around.

  • Pleasure point eh - are you from SC? PP is a zoo! Anyhow, winter is pretty fun out here, I recommend getting the suite. If you are serious about getting out there, I'm in Hobo - I can pick you up for some waves. Shoot me a PM. I just moved from SF - I mainly surfed Kelly's Cove -- SC was just too much of a drive for me.

  • Why the move back east, Brent? Jackie and I are probably going to do the same thing at the end of the school year... It's the economy, stupid. I lived in JC for years. Could do it again, but it would always be a car to the surf.

  • The move back was entirely for sell-out reasons...work. BUT, we moved back BEFORE this economic disaster - and our company is feeling the brunt of this downturn. I'll be honest - I really miss CA, and we'll be back again - probably be here 4-5 years, then move back...hard to say though!

  • I did the same...sold out for a job(still have it ) and its working out pretty well except for the surf side of life. Im not from SC, but I have some family who lives there.  True PP can be a zoo but it's not that bad.  I lived oceanfront OB on the great highway right in front of Safeway.  Kelly's was ok, always shifting around, funky currents, etc. VFWs was fun but similar. Really enjoy pt waves better. Flying back to CA at the end of march to score some waves.  I'll be down to surf whenever once Im back. NJ should be 4/3 temps by then I hope!
