It's great you guys are doing this and I'm psyched to see your progress. Take lots of pics. Be super-conscientious, though, if you are going to take it in the surf and make sure you know what you're doing first. A SUP is no different than a surf yak, methinks. I saw my first SUPer in NJ this past weekend at a jetty in LBNJ. Wrong place, wrong time. Its a typical Jersey set up with steep jackers breaking in a few feet of water. Homey paddled out right through the lines of the guys fishing off the jetty. One of the few times I agree with them when they're shouting at a surfer. Anyway, he caught a few from WAAAAAAY outside, then split. Everyone should get a set of warning and instructions when they buy (or in your case, build) one of those things. I really shudder to think about what its going to be like if they show up at my favorite RI longboard spots this summer. I just hope people who get them realize that discretion is mandatory. The guy who posts at Sway's as CarveNalu is very much aware of the potential for blowback and always makes a point about taking care and being considerate. Just FYI, is all.
