  • Loving this design more and more, Joe! That outline shot of the blank really shows off what you were explaining. Really nice.

  • I def did NOT want to go to chippy with this ....for 1, I do not surf like gorkin(i.e pro surfer   ;) ) and 2 I figured I would need the extra foam since the board is so small and def not what I am used to.... I would need the volume to help me paddle into waves...As a soon as I felt it under my arm I knew it was right.... ya know that feeling when a board feels good.  the curves on this thing are siiiick! I like my boards....and girls, curvy   ;) :D

yes Juan and I should def to a trade off... I was actually dicussing doing a lil vid shoot with pycho, so maybe we can set that up when we get good waves either, east of west or west of east, if you know what I mean.

  • How is The J.Hall X Grey Ghost Collabo board treating you? Its going to Andy Kessler next.  :'(   I'm never going to get my board back! haha I hope you enjoyed it. Its honestly a magical board. There's something special in the board....

Jeez I love that board!!! I was so conflicted while riding it in Jers, On the one hand I could drop in, cut back and work the mush to the inside where it jacked up and I could pull into a good shorey closey Barrel section. But it wasn't my board and I didn't want to destroy it so I was really worried about having so much fun.

No dings or cracks By the way!

I had a really great chest high right and had a long ride and nice frontside cutback with a tail slide. Sick floaters too!!

    I love that board!!
    Foamies are the new black

  • I love a long rail.
    Always looking to learn.
So any corner adds drag. Why add the little corners on the tail instead of just making it a thumbnail?
    Trust in the board.

  • So your looking for it to stabilize the board so you can sink the rail a little more.

  • Little corners that small won't affect a turn negatively. It will only add a little pivot point. Thus giving it more bite. Having a rounder rail line in the tail like a thumb tail will soften the transition of the turn however with a tail as wide as this, a full on thumb doesn't translate all that well. The outline will start to look too much like a platter and become a little dicey through harder rail turns leaving you the possibility of a slide out if put on edge. This board is an odd one. Noah Budrow (Hawaiian shaper for Lost) invented the tail with the mind to make it a swallow tail but instead of cutting a swallow he added a rounded tail in between the swallow tail tips. It keeps a lot of planing surface in the tail that would have otherwise been lost to the cut of a swallow. A lot of that has to do with why the board can be ridden in smaller waves without compromise and larger sectioning waves without worry.

I hope that helps. Thanks for all the board love. I love how involved and stoked everyone is getting on this. Its positive reactions like this that inspire me even further. Thanks guys

  • On a different note I will not hesitate to say how insane my long fishie rides in ANYTHING.  Specifically it grabs speed like nothing I have ever seen....esp if u can work the high line.  I have become a better backside surfer as a regular foot and this thing rips cutties into the soup insane.  I will want clams to build me a replica a foot or so bigger for that winter, no paddle arms, fad dad with kids kinda shape to prepare for my future.  Can't say enough about my long fish....I catch waves like a whore on an LB and it rips.....ultimate one board quiver for LI end of story!!!!   I can paddle around almost anyone and pick off waves....I almost feel like I'm cheating!  This board is a lineups worst nightmare! Clams strikes again.....watch out for the collabo lookin board in 6'10".  If u see it ask to try.....b/c it's insane!

  • Looks very nice. I don't know how guys paddle those boards. sure, it's not a standard super thin chip, but still. I had a great time on my rocket shape yesterday. It's pretty cool how easy it is to release tail and do some controlled slides.

  • I'm sure quevz and others would love this model....however I question it's relevance for the day to day surfer in day to day waves.

  • the board goes sick, and paddleing into waves is no problem..it actually glides really well tried it thruster then quad.... both times the board was really fast,,,felt more skatey with the quad tho.  next test it in waves with more face, not much happenin around these parts today. first impressions: board feels really good under feet and FAST! now I know why it was named the rocket.
