  • I got a little more done last night and this evening.

I marked and cut 5/8" of my original outline template.

Cut the 5/8" off the rails.

Cut strips of 1/8" bending ply or door skin for the perimeter stringer.

I glue the strips onto the blank with Gorilla glue.

Happiness is a sharp block plane.

I ordered the glass yesterday so I hope it comes by the weekend. Then I can bag on the veneer skins.

  • Nice Mark.  How much water do you use with the Gorilla Glue.  I posted on sways because I was concerned with moistening the poly foam (that I have let dry for the last month) before applying the glue to one side of a broken tail on a fish.  The response was to just mist both sides before applying to one side - is that what you do?

I mist it on with a spray bottle. I have a feeling the glue uses up the water as it cures.

I am waiting for the glass. It may come tomorrow but the holiday may hold things up until wednesday.

  • The glass came on monday so I was able to get a little done yesterday.

I layed up the veneer and cut it to the outline.

Stick the glass down with a light coat of spray adhesive.

Then I trimmed the cloth  close to the blank outline.

I brushed on a thin coat of epoxy.

Taped the veneer to the blank and put it in the bag.

4 hours later out of the bag.

I haven't added the rails yet. I still have to build them up with 1/8" ply strips and then shape them,
