  • Last night I glued up the pieces.

Feeling a little more confident now. No flat spots on the outline but I am sure it is not
    completely symmetrical.

  • lookin good!!  I like your idea of the outside strip notched into the ribs.  Sets a good outline for your rails and makes them a bit stronger.  What type of rails are you planing on (strips, cork, ect?).

I am going to do four strips of 1/8" ply.

I spent the weekend puting in more support for the deck and glueing on the perimeter stringer.

  • That looks good Mark. What do you used to bond the wood together?

  • It depends on the joint. For the perimeter stringer I used Gorilla glue. If I have a lot of surface area I use wood glue. I use a hot glue gun to hold things in place while the Gorilla glue sets up.

  • This looks sweet.

BTW, I don't know why but every time this thread pops up, I read the title as Hollywood Noserider.  Maybe you need to take the Hollywood sign and make a logo.

  • More progress on the Holywood noserider.

I went up to the Bronx and picked up some wood.

    Clear pine and spanish cedar.

Spanish cedar is the stuff they use to line cigar boxes so my shop smell good for a change.

I cut the boards down and planed them down to 3/32"

Then I glued and taped them together and rough cut the outline.

I have decided to glue the middle of the skin down so that it will hold when I clamp down the perimeter tomorrow.
