If this isn't yet another wake up call for the over 40 he old set to watch diet and exercise . So sad , searching for TC my all time fave and I too wore mine out from over watching . Still can't believe never legally reproduced on DVD . I have to watch you tube clips now Rip

Hey Dorado,
I got the Search DVD Box Set Actually. It was released in 04 and quickly taken off the shelves when Rip Curl realized that they didn't have the legal authority to distribute the film in DVD form. Their contract was only for VHS. I was talking to Sonny about it last year at our event we did with him. Rip Curl didn't want to pay him or Arno Kimsey, the musical genius behind the films, the royalties they deserved. It was a big legal mess and that's why it hasn't been released. What is more disappointing is that Rip Curl hasn't said a word or paid any homage to Sonny in any of their social media. Sonny, DH and Curren made Rip Curl relevant in the 90's after they went bankrupt in the lat 80's. If it weren't for them, Rip Curl wouldn't have been what they are today.

Sonny Miller, one of the greatest surf filmmakers of all time has passed away from a heart attack.  He was an incredible artist who made some of the greatest surf films of all time. His marquee film Searching for Tom Curren is quite possibly of the best surf films ever made. The guy was a legend. I feel very honored and lucky to have had the opportunity to have interviewed him and Tom Curren together and screen his incredible film last year. The guy was an absolute legend.
RIP Sonny Miller. Thank you for the inspiration.

For those situations when you have nowhere to go: When is doubt, bail out. If you got no where to go, chuck your board away from the surfer riding the wave and dive as deep as possible.
If you have some control, paddle to the breaking part of the wave unless you are 100% sure you can make it over the shoulder without screwing up the riders wave.
If you got 4 people paddling for a wave and most of them look like they are going straight-off-adolf, god help you... Sometimes, getting ran over is unavoidable. brown trout happens.

And it's almost always the person paddling out's responsibility to get out of the way. If I'm focused on hitting a section, I'm not looking toward shore. And I shouldn't have to. The wave itself is enough stimulation that requires my full concentration.
The only times it's a riders fault is if they have no control of the board and cant turn it and just outrun the wave and hit the person who already went over the back of the shoulder, or if the rider is a dick and is aiming for you.

But lets be honest, surfing is a dangerous sport. We all assume the risks when we paddle out whether we are skilled or not. Anything can happen. Everyone who is starting to surf needs to understand that it's the person paddling out's responsibility to stay out of the way and you cant' really blame the person riding the wave, unless they look you dead in the eye at the start of the wave and purposefully run you over. It infuriates me when some novice tries to yell at me for almost running them over. And when someone does a big cutty or hack in your face, consider yourself lucky and grateful to the surfer for their skills and not running you over.

Here he is speaking the truth about surfing..

But what do I do? This is the first year I don't have a fish in the quiver...

Come down anyway and try out other boards. Perhaps one of our fine local shapers or surf shop establishments will convince you to bring a fish back into your quiver...

The 7th Annual NY Fish Fry is going down this May 17th or 18th at Washington Blvd in Long Beach. The Surf Forecast is looking good!
Bring your fish’s, oddities, experimentation’s, and cherry boards.. Sharing is caring. The surf forecast is looking good for this weekend. The call will be made this Friday.
The NY Fish Fry has become a staple in NY surf culture over the last 7 years. It’s a great time. Completely grass roots, no tents, no sponsors, no commercialism at all. Just a great opportunity for friends and like minded surfers to come together and try out new and old boards. It doesn’t get much better than that. Afterwards, I’m sure there will be a happening at Pilgrim Surf & Supply in the evening. So, come on out, bring all your odd riding crafts, a positive attitude and be ready to have a great time.
When: May 17th or 18th (Waves depending)
Where: Washington Blvd, Long Beach NY
What: The NY Fish Fry
Bring: Your boards to share and positive attitudes…
