Title: Community Board Meeting
Post by: PoppaGB on June 11, 2007, 07:47:25 AM
I was speaking with Dan Mundy re: new surfing beaches.  He asked that somebody attend tomorrow's comunity board meeting and sign up to speak re: why present surfing beaches need to be expanded and why new beaches in the 80's are needed.  The Parks has approved the beach at 67 St. and have announced that it's too late this year to try to open another in the 80s or expand the current area.  He said it would help to have local subject matter experts speak as it will keep the issue on the agenda when they reconvene after their summer break.

It was hard to do so on my sidekick last night. But here goes.

The meeting lasted about two hours + of those two hours surfing was discussed for 5 to 8 minutes. The community board is very well organized articulate and open to new ideas on a variety of issues.

The CB has opened a new surf beach.

You can now legally surf from 67th st to 69th st.

(Which mean you guys will never ever see me again. But there is hope cause I didn't get into the marathon this year so maybe I will have more time to hang  out with my friends whom I miss so much but it's such a bitch to carry a long board to 90th, so again maybe you will or won't see me  ;D (tangents are never really helpful and detract from the discussion at hand. For as much as I like the free flow of conversation a Borg like structure is helpful when communicating many ideas in a short period of time for those people that can't make meetings, I would love to get on the beauty of using 0 and 1 in computers, I mean how much more simple can communication be? speaking of which the 0 isn't really an 0 is just an empty space, how amazing is that? what what)

Okay sorry brother wipe

New surf beach, voted for by the Rockaway Community Board.
I think this is a good thing and the more we get involved with the CB the more options we have. If some people are not in love with the process they will be in love with the option to walk to another beach when 90 is maxed out.

Also, if more surfers get involved, really involved not just digitally we can influence the way the CB works.

Oh and after the George Bush Fiasco, I nominate myself as the r0ckaway republican candidate of the working people who just happens to be a god dam communist.

i think a small distinction should be made.  The CB voted to recommend/advise/agree to Parks dept's move to open B67th as a surfing beach.  I don't know to what extent the Parks decision is subject to CB's approval though they obviously want to work together.  Anyway, it's a fine distinction which could be fleshed out a little more.
