Title: 1st Beach?, Beach 1?
Post by: hosteldweller on June 02, 2011, 05:46:55 PM
After spending 2 years living on 116th, I surfed a few times at or near 1**th at the little jetty rock pile with the fence.  I remember it being a left with some interesting "characters" on the beach.  That said, I was wondering what the name is and whether or not you can surf there year round.  Aside from that beach, I guess the surfing beaches are the other option.  Living near LBI, NJ, I'd be visiting for nostalgia purposes and to see the improvements.  Love the shower and locker idea.  The only other place I saw with lockers was Waikiki, although they're open with a post chain link type set up.

If you know where that particular spot is and can get there, you *may* be able to surf. It's technically closed to surfing in the summer months - whether that is enforced or not, you never know. The issue really isn't getting there, though - it's parking there. Simply put, you can't...at least in the summer.
