Wander into unsound if you get a chance - last time I was there they had a couple with a very good price tagged on them....

  • NLI, Have you tried a Firewire yet?

Looseness and I swapped for a few waves last spring in really good waves and I think his Firewire went better than my Aviso SD 2. Just my opinion.

    Hahhahahahaa....

Seriously, I'd LOVE to try that board - even if it meant I would be obligated to change my avatar to manbearpig's old one:

  • nope, have yet to try either.  how did the firewire go better?  how did the rides differ?  is the firewire noticeably lighter than the aviso?

  • This is about a year or so ago, so my memory is foggy. The day in question was roughly chest-head high and really good. Looseness and I swapped 6'4s for a few waves and I recall getting carbon copy jetty lefts on each board. The Firewire was a little thinner but maintained float. I definitely felt the difference coming out of turns. It just felt like it was easier to reload out of the turn and go make another one.

Don't get me wrong, the Aviso also recovers quite well -better than any poly board I've owned (which isn't saying much because they've been semi guns & 80s slugs) but not with the same degree of snap (for lack of a better word). The newest thruster I had ever owned was a TPatterson RNF (like the one you sold). That board was sweet, but not as responsive as either of these boards.
