Water Fowl Identification

  • Can anyone identify the ducks that have invaded the lineup over the last couple of days in LB? Some sort of arctic duck? I enjoy birding while waiting for sets. Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, The black and white ones. In my mind they look like a different species compared to previous winters.

    i've seen so many different ducks and water fowl this year. not sure if they've always been around and i'm just now noticing. this hunting season, they've been camping out behind our house - the usual mallard looking ones that i think are really pretty, but then also lots of the black and white ones and the ones with the cute little mohawks. i love watching them cruise with the current - they fly by so fast.

  • One year one of these water fowl just came up to me and attacked me fur no reason..I put my board in between us and the thing started pecking my firewire...comical for the people I surfed with..for me not so much..didn't look like any if these guys though
