• Was down at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club @ 302 87th st.and Rockaway FWY, (under the subway Tracks). Well organized with food, clothing and other needed items. Deploying crews to help dig people out of basements, and help maintain the donation center. 9am roll call tomorrow

• From Smash nyc:
Hey everyone! What we need are volunteers and man power tomorrow, Sunday! If you have time and the will, we are setting up a volunteer pick up at Pilgrim Surf Supply in Williamsburg Brooklyn. We need people who have workmen boots, Workmen gloves, face masks, industrial brooms, shovels, and a can do attitude. We are also looking for people with cars and gas to help ferry people to the Rockaways. We will be setting up 2 drop off points where we plan on going house to house helping people clean up. If you are interested, please email: [email protected] or just show up at Pilgrim tomorrow morning by 9AM. Thank you all!link to facebook pagehttp://www.facebook.com/SMASH.Surf.NYC

• Fyi sounds like help is needed east of the surf club. Friends live down in arverne (old arverne, not by the sea) and i heard their neighbors are not even started on the cleanup. Up by us we are.going strong, fdny behind it all.

• Best way to help is get some big rubber boots, clothes you don't care about, a dust mask, a shovel and a breaker bar and walk down the street in the 50's looking for people who need help.  Seriously.  Don't worry about where to go or who to meet or where the central point is.  There is no real centralization.  Just go down there and help the first person who asks for help.

thanks jammy for putting this word out.  i've seen a bunch of new faces back here and heard of many more making rounds to pitch in.  a lot of our neighbors are elderly, many of them with medical conditions, many waiting for fema to appear.  most all are stubborn as hell...so please keep knocking and thanks everyone!

• heard today from some of my contacts that i redirected to the Rockaway beach club that there will be a 53 ft truck of supplies coming in. hoping someone is there to receive it.

this is her email. they are going door to door to help, but again, if you know of specific people that need assistance, please let me know. these guys are part of an organization called New York Dream Center

best to you all. praying that power comes back.

"Thanks Tiago!I contacted the Surf Club and let them know we have a 53 ft truck of supplies coming in today. We have been in Rockaway since Monday and will continue to be there for a while. We have a temporary warehouse with blankets, clothing, food, water, cleaning supplies, batteries and tools. Currently we're going door to door and delivering supplies as well as cleaning out basements/sheds/anything necessary. If you come into contact with any people who need assistance in their homes, please let me know. Thanks!Marlyse"
