  • The sea was angry that day, my friends--like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.

  • It's actually part of a campaign from the non-profit organization One Wave to bring awareness to Depression and believes that surfing is a great activity for for people who suffer from depression, bi-polar disorders, and other mental illnesses. It goes along with the belief that if you exercise, it improves your mental health.
Quote on what One wave does: "OneWave was established this year to help raise awareness and show support for anyone who has ever experienced or knows someone who has suffered depression, anxiety or bi-polar disorders. Their motto is, “One wave is all it takes to get you out of the funk.”

It's definitely a great way to attract attention.
This event is being organized by Jonno Durant who has done a lot of great charity work and has done a lot of great things to support local surfing and local non-profits.
I think the messaging could be better on the poster but I think it's not a bad idea. Surfing definitely helps me get out of funks.

  • Well, they certainly chose a "perfect" day for this kind of therapy. If that doesn't make them happy, I don't know what would.
