  • The correct answer is 4.

This phenomenon was traditionally associated with Malaya but has been described as occurring also in Africa and more rarely in Papua New Guinea. Often, there is a prodromal period of brooding after an incident during which the victim (almost always male) has felt slighted or humiliated. What follows is a sudden, uncontrollable rage that leads to the individual's aimlessly running around with a weapon that is ultimately used to kill a number of people or animals. Sometimes the perpetrator then kills himself. Those captured alive have claimed no memory of the killing. Although some studies have shown the syndrome to be associated with psychotic disorders, this does not appear to be a uniform finding.
