  • Anyone ridden one of these?  I've got a Bing Lovebird - 9'2".  It's a beautiful board and I hate to sell it, but I'm really only riding it in small surf - waist high and less.  Once it gets bigger than that I take something else.  The Lovebird really doesn't have all that much volume.  I bet it would be insane for someone looking to ride a longboard in overhead surf, but I'm thinking I'd like something thicker, flatter, longer, to catch more waves on small days.  I've been "researching" or better said, wasting time on the computer, and the In The Pink seems to be real versatile, great on small days, thick but responsive, big old nose, blah blah blah.  Anyone have one??  ridden one??

Hmmm...interesting. They come out of R&D in Florida, no? I've had some shapes from there and thought the quality was fine. Good to know, loggerhead, thanks for the heads up.

  • My .02.  I have one 9'3 surftech.  The board is golden, for me, in 4 ft. 9 sec. surf.  I'm still playing with the fin set up the ones that came with the board are not the ones recommended by HPD.  Not sure if it makes a difference.  I am not a great surfer by any means, but I can occasionally get a cheater 5 and then a decent cut back.  I bought the board because it was advertised as an all rounder.  So far after two years I enjoy the board.

  • loving my anderson brothers marshall, magic board and great all rounder - fun in thigh high slop as well as overhead reeling point surf.

have a bing silver spoon which i love as well, great beach break log. had a august martinson, johnny rice noserider and hannon standard to compare them too. if you can find an anderson used, i'd highly recco.

or just get in better paddling shape and keep the lovebird. fitness and lightness on your feet do a lot more for your surfing than adding volume.

  • Are you looking to continue only riding the next one in small surf? I have a Model T, and its a classic, cruise-y long board, great for small summer days and nose riding but if it gets to be much over chest high, it struggles. Very flat board. If you like Bings, the Silver Spoon and Gold Standard are both great small wave longboards. If you've got your heart set in a Takayama, the DT-2 is also a good sort of hybrid of cruiser and performance long board. Good luck! Even if you pick wrong, you can't go wrong. Try some things out and find what works for YOU!

  • Haha. And what I also failed to mention (sorry, I'm at a hotel bar in Reading, by god, Pennsylvania on business) is that what many I know who have ridden the ITP, tell me it's more of a high-ish performance longboard. Sorry... I'm sure others will disagree.
