Welcome To Rockaway. Now, Go Home!

Two police officers from the 100 Precinct greet three young visitors from South Korea with a local present – summonses for drinking open cans of beer on the beach. The three, who had come to Rockaway from their Manhattan hotel by A Train for a day at the beach had no idea that drinking beer on the beach was prohibited, they said, because they had done the same thing at Coney Island earlier in the week with no problem and no police summonses. Barbara Morris of West End Realty, who was conducting her annual Sandcastle Contest nearby, gave each of the visitors a present to offset their negative feelings about Rockaway due to the summonses.

  • Since it's a civil offence and not criminal, I don't think anything would happen.
