  • probably cheaper to let the guy in Florida sand and glass it.....but then it would not be artisanal NYC style.

Now if they bought a CNC machine for NYC, they might get lots of contract work....no?

I thought I heard Natures Shapes has one.  Why not send them out there, have them CNC'd, and then shave the cost down on shipping.

I believe they do. I also think that cloud 9 guy has one or some type of machine.

What a waste of petrol to do all that shipping.

Talk about profiting 100's of dollars! Ha!

  • Not for nothing but I worked and surfed for the original Union surfshop owned by Russ. Lots of history with the shop and famous riders as well. There will never be another Union surfboard that compares to theirs. Just my opinion. And yes Cloud 9 and Becker have the machine.

No matter how hard you train, it all comes down to confidence.

  • It's disruptive because he wants to make custom boards, and that doesn't exist anywhere. Ever. Before.

  • Noticing a trend in recent NY surf-related pieces attempting to make something out of this "Wall Street surf scene."

    Good luck...

finally, just like snowboarding...apparently everyone is going back to skiing.  maybe body boarding will get huge.  makes more sense for urban surfers without cars and storage.

or take up kite surfing...doesn't get much cooler than that...of jet packs..or anything else..

    please let this be true!

Because this isn't a Cola War. Wouldn't be the first time board builders worked together. The machine has to cost an arm & a leg I don't think a small company would mind sharing the cost of the investment with a smaller company. Besides the products could still be vastly different by the time they reach consumers.

  • It was an arm and a leg. That's exactly what they do. The glassing crew at NS does a lot of work for outside ppl (even little ole me has had a few boards glassed there) and I believe Cloud 9 accepts Aku files.
