  • Not sure if anyone posts about surfing here anymore but just had the urge to shout some stoke after this weekend.  Felt challenged, worked, and overcame a few personal hurdles on Saturday.  Sunday on the midsize was just playful as brown trout. So many familiar and friendly faces in the water. Looking out.  Hooting.

Can't be happier about the decision to go 30% more volume inspired by an old man thread and people from this forum.

    I'm really stoked.

Took away a tad of my el nino envy depression.

    That's all

  • Amen to the more volume. Also to taking working out more seriously. My laziness used to catch up with me on bigger days. Sat was amazing, but honestly, it's ridiculous how many great days we've had nearly all fall and winter.

Speaking of el nino envy depression, I got to spend some time on the west coast and was super depressed when I got back, but saturday sure did help. Maybe we can never get nonstop waves for two months, but i'll take an good to excellent day every week for 5 months anytime.

  • Saturday I surfed head high waves at a popular spot with only 5 or six guys out. Maybe the surfing fad is over.

Doubt it, and to quote lopez, crowds thin and surfing is much more critical at 6'

  • Top 5 NY day in last 10 years for me . Surfed a very popular Nassau break . Plenty of guys out but a large percent of window shoppers and shoulder hoppers and the only place to take off was under it with the size / power / offshores so the crowd was pretty much non existent . Current wasn't THAT bad by any means was pretty standard for outgoing tide . This winter delivered more hurricane swell than most summers

  • Previously a window shopper, 'till Saturday.   Hunger is good.

    Great vibe in the line-up.

    Memorable weekend.

  • Hey Andy, here's one that a friend who was in LB sent. The hero of this video is the wave itself.

I'm sure on IG and other places there's gotta be more pics.

So I'm rhetorically wondering, why didn't they host the Cold War last Sat?

  • Thanks for the kind words, Kyle. I managed to get a couple good ones. Too bad I pushed the session a little too long and creased my board on some bombing cartwheeling action.

  • My jaw dropped when I pulled onto the boardwalk and saw wave after wave like the one below. Drift was a bitch where I was though.

  • I didn't manage to get it until Saturday afternoon, sounds like conditions went from all-time epic to fun but swampy and onshore. Fortunately, I had a simmons and just cruised. Sunday was definitely a blast. Stoked to get a few .. maybe my 2016 curse is lifting ....
