Ton of powerful tubes in Belmar. Coming from LI and being goofy, I'm way better at lefts, but you can get soooooo much deeper in the pit on your backhand. Making it out once you get that deep is a different story however...

When it looks bowly waist to chest and nobody is out, it's probably 6-8 ft and heaving thus nobody is out. After 20 years of surfing this is a rule I forget time and time again. Needless to say my 5'5 twin fin was not the right call and I got my ass handed to me on almost every wave. One beating was so bad it pulled my wetsuit sideways, like a 90 degree turn, uncomfortable and had I not been alone, mildly embarrassing.

Ironically it was nice when I showed up. Thought I'd take a few minutes to volley back a few more work emails (you know, so no one would know I was offline) . Changed, saw that it was deteriorating and blew it.

Morals of the story-

1. FTW, they can wait. The wind is changing
2. Don't paddle out on a 5'5 board in waves with increasing chop (unless you're someone with onefin's skillset).

I scored North NJ with Dorado, FMboros, and later on the Lone Surfer.
REALLY good. Still stoked and replaying some waves in my head. It's fun to surf front-side once in a while, I'm regular foot.

Back side bombs!! Beautiful day with a few friends on our own peak. I got served on a few as well, but overall it was a great day!
