  • thank you all for the kind words! malibu casey, yeah, there were a lot of trips down there and also a lot of frustrations. the big board bags came in handy. i flew so much crazy stuff down there. almost all the dishes, linens, hardware for doors and windows. i even flew the huge mosquito screens down in a longboard bag. we just had to be creative in solving problems. they don't, at least my architect didn't, draft very specific plans. or at least they didn't adhere to them. so, there were a lot of corrections or creative fixes and a lot of things we just have to live with. a lot of trial and error and i had to troubleshoot a lot for the architect - there isn't a code or anything down there, so things like a gap between the railing and the stairs that could be dangerous, i had to come up with a fix for that looked integrated. the list goes on. i really wanted a living roof, but all we got were the troughs of plants on the lower roof - i still hope that those will fill in. overall, it's beautiful and i love it, but it was a very tough process. despite all that, i'm planning for the next one  ;D

we love the country, that area specifically, and the community a lot. it's a very special place.

and now, we need to rent it so i can defray the upkeep costs  :D

  • I helped drink a lot of beer when I was down there. It was tough work. ;)Lol j/k house is beautiful even when it was 80% finished. I can attest. And Ayampe is an amazing place. Can't wait to go back.

  • On my list, spoke to Onefin last November about Ecuador. Considering what might be setting up in the pacific this winter I may have to pull the trigger, I'll be in touch.

Fly direct from jfk to gye on LAN, or fly aa with one stop. LAN boards fly free but the ticket is more.
