  • Borrow a friends longboard or fun shape.  Stand up for the first time, then buy a used board.  Slowly make progression over the summer in the rare rideable days.  Get your ass handed to you on your first hurricane.  Watch local rippers tear it up from the beach.  Vow to someday be the good.  Buy another board, obsessively check weather models and surf forecasts for rideable conditions.  Buy a wetsuit, then gloves, boots and a thicker wetsuit.  Start trying to schedule work and school around the 3 hour windows of decent conditions we get every few weeks.  Suffer through flat spells.  Have your first good hurricane session.  Book a trip, realize the waves are better on almost every other stretch of coast on earth.  Return home.  Consider relocating.  Realize work, family, etc don't allow it........then hang yourself

  • you forgot to remind him to make sure he waxes up his feet, and to make sure the board leash is attached securely to his wrist.

wax is to make the board faster. it goes on the bottom.

i was talking about the grip wax, which goes on the feet.
glide wax obviously goes on the bottom of the board. whaddya think, I'm stupid ?

having said that, you can also apply grip wax to your chest, for paddling.
