  • From weather.com: http://www.weather.com/newscenter/tropical/?from=tabset

"Tropical Depression Nine has been battling an unfavorable environment in the open Atlantic waters about 1205 miles to the east of the northern Leeward Islands. The hostile environment results from the combination of wind shear from an upper-level low to its north and dry air to the west. Thunderstorm activity has increased somewhat near the center of circulation during the overnight hours. But overall, most of the thunderstorm activity continues to be displaced to the east due to the wind shear from the upper low. Strengthening is possible over the next day or so as it continues its journey towards the west-northwest. If T.D. Nine strengthens into a tropical storm it would be given the name Irene."

Welll..at least there's some hope for strengthening.. I'm thinking maaaaayybe by the late part of the week we could have some changes in the nastycast....  ;D ;D ;D
