  • Looks like unrideable  heavy shore pound in the pics you took.   Good for breaking your neck though.

Haha. Yes it's too heavy for me. I like a barrel, but not that heavy and I like to have sections that are flatter for cutbacks and stuff and not breaking basically on the sand and closing out in 2 seconds. I'm more of a cruiser type wave. More interested in a long fast fun ride than getting shacked by some super thick barrel from hell. haha I'm more for fun than the risk taking aspect.

If I want to risk my life, I'd go after this: (below link), Not 6 foot mid atlantic style sand spit shore pound that closes out fast.

BIG SURF Bells Beach Australia (HD)
    Talk about epic!

Here's some perfect waves and as big and heavy as I'd go
Jacksonville Beach FL Pier - Surfing Hurricane Bill 8-22-09
Lots of time between sets. Great power. You can get shacked, but it;s not too heavy, cut back sections where it mushes out then reforms, channels for paddling out. Long ass rides. Awesome awesome. I wish I was there for that.

Hey to each their own, as long as you had a good time and didn't get injured...all the best and the photo's were really beautiful. Just not my type of wave.

  • Oh isn't it funny how 4.5 feet at 8 seconds is heavier(foot for foot) in the mid atlantic than a huge hurricane swell in Florida. Goes to show you how much bottom countour effects waves. I prefer the floridian wave myself than the super heavy mid atlantic death barrels, but to each their own.

  • The death pits are the most fun to shoot for me because they have all sorts of personality inside and out.

death pits are the most fun to ride... most of the time. Still recovering from that shoulder bash 2 weeks ago. And with the way certain central beaches are setup- more child eating, sand sucking death kegs will be the norm.
