    • I know this is a like a band-aid on a missing limb, but maybe if anybody needs anything specific, they can post it here.  There are a lot of people who want to help, I'm sure, but don't even know where to start... I'm sure that goes for people trying to clean up right now--where to even begin.

    But I can offer a hand, tools, etc, if people need them, and I'm sure other people can, too.

    • I was thinking of a sump pump and 12v to 110 converter for the car to pump people out would be a good start.

    Thanks for posting that.. looks like they are evacuating LB now via national guard. oil/fuel/sewage in streets.

    • It seems like there are a lot of us who live in other boroughs who want to come to help dig out, but we don't know anyone in Rockaway (or LB) personally.  What about having a central meeting place in RB and in LB where you guys who need help can go to meet those of us who can come out with friends and tools and whatever else?  Then we could go where we're needed, and not just wander around looking for people.  Or if that's not possible, PMing works fine too.

    I might be able to come tomorrow morning, if work allows.  Could probably have a couple friends with me, too.
