  • Sand bars everywhere!
Things have been looking good, in contrast to this past summer. They have returned to almost the whole stretch of Jones island and even along Moses on fire island. This past week or so has been a good showcase. Waves have been breaking with just the smallest amount of swell. How they will handle waist to chest remains to be seen but last Tuesday's head high swell (1/30/18) looked good everywhere i checked.
I just hope they dont get washed out during the spring storms like last summer.

  • this is a fairly typical annual cycle
    https://www.seagrant.umaine.edu/coastal-hazards-guide/beaches-and-dunes/learn-more/seasonal-changes
It just seams like there are more/longer sections this year than in the recent past. If you drive ocean pkwy its breaking pretty much the whole length and in places i don't remember breaking in years past. There had been gaps between tobay and jones in years past but its working now... this week at least
