  • One of the incredibly cool things about running a surf website is that it's given me a deep appreciation for just how rich our surf history here on the east coast really is - and here's an amazing example: The photo below is of our very own Seppo's Dad with Hobie Alter (along with Gary Propper and others!) at Emilio's surf shop, which would become today's Sundown Surf and Ski.

    Emilio's is still located on Queens Blvd., though only as a ski shop.  The address of their Hempstead Tpke location, is still operating as Sundown.

  • One of the last TSJs had a good article about how Hobie and clark invented the proper polyurathane blank. Clark says it was all Hobie.
