Rent/borrow prone paddleboard

  • Hi friends!

I'm visiting southern NJ (stone harbor) from California and I'm looking to rent or borrow a prone paddleboard for the next two weeks while I'm here.  Preferrably a 12-14' stock board.

Does anyone have one they are willing go rent out or do you know of a local place that rents them? Every place I called in the area only rents SUPS and kayaks.  Do people ride prone boards here?

    Any info is greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

  • not surprising that you can't find a rental prone paddleboard here. prone paddlers get seriously odd looks, or get to have a "chat" w/ the USCG after some well-meaning concerned citizen thinks you're a kayaker who lost his paddle. there's a (very) small community of prone paddlers here in southern nj, but most of us are still in high gear, training & racing regularly. that said, i'll ask around, but don't hold your breath. when are you arriving?

  • Interesting, thanks for the info. Most of the SUP/kayak places I called had no idea what I was talking about. I'm really surprised. I would think with all the flatspells in NJ a prone board would be a must to stay active on the water and get ready for the winter swells. Even if you're not training for a race it's fun to get out there and cruise.

I appreciate the help! I'm already here in stone harbor, heading to LBI in a few days until 8/15.
