  • Any opinions based on this last swell?  Watched it for a while from the boardwalk, definitely a little funky at high tide.

Jetty at the end of my street is one of the next ones up, will be interesting to see how the spot changes (hopefully for the better).

  • Is this LB or Rock?

Can anyone confirm that the LB rebuilds are primarily in west end and lido/pt lookout area? Or are they doing town as well

I'm still curious as to why 6 jetties were omitted, and what the net effect on not just the surf, but beach/swimmer safety will be to those omitted/soon to be buried jetties will be once the beach replenishment is started next year. Guess we'll just have to wait and see and pray for the best....

  • Hopefully it's a different  process than what they did in parts of jersey. The surf did come back, but it took a couple of years. But now there are the most insane deep spots right off the sand. At mid to high tides you literally step off the sand into water over your head.

  • I've been somewhat encouraged after going over the Army Corp plans presented, which can be found here:
    http://www.longbeachny.gov/index.asp?Type=B_PR&SEC=%7B33BD7D65-42BC-45CB-ABAB-A6E2B4FB1BFB%7D&DE=%7BABE869BA-2469-4F24-A8B9-7F1F348C579A%7D

I too have been concerned we would end up with a steep drop off. But the plan shows they intend to extend out the beach while maintaining the existing slope. If that's the case there should be a quick recovery of breaks.
