  • Does look mighty familiar.  I've seen that rig before. And that head just peaking over the wave, well..it looks exactly like Mario.  ;)

  • is it the 38th st. jetty in Newps?  Thats a better more consistent version of LB.  I got so barreled there on my longboard the Cordell Miller almost beat me senseless for gettin wave of the day, shortest session of the whole trip.  30 hour three waves and horrible vibes, assholes were so pissed, my take was just a good day at LB sat on the jetty and grabbed the gold.

Ok, not to argue because there is no right or wrong on this one

I had a freind describe San Francisco like this:
First month , You'll love it
    Third Month, You'll hate it
Sixth Month, You'll be making plans to leave before the year is up
Eighth Month, You'll start to understand it
One year, You'll talk about leaving over drinks at (Fill in local bar name)
    2 years, Your here forever..

I feel like there are a lot of places that if  giving the chance can work out, as long as there are waves of course...

PS: We only left because of the web crash and all the Post Production  places that I worked went Belly up.

  • OK- I know everyone hates to hear this - but I wrote a song about it..and here, here goes.

The fog in San Fran is starting to piss me off a bit. This is by far the coldest August I have encountered! I here Sept. startes to clear up, so I am looking forward to that. Water temps - well, it's a bit on the frigid side. I wear a 3/2, comfortably, but I will never be in trunks out here - that is for certain.

BUT - I've never been skunked out here; for a couple of reasons.

    1) Sometimes I may just be surfing wind-swell, but there are waves non-the-less. I've had fun days in the wind-slop that comes around. Ocean Beach (secret spot, don't tell anyone) seem to always have a wave within Kelly's Cove.

    2) It catches all south's all norths - check out SF on a map - it's a very exposed coastline (more so than Ventura).

Now, it's true, you have to make the best with what you have. When I moved to NYC, I excepted the surf conditions, and made the most of it. But, it's pretty important to me that I have a very good balance of building a career and surfing as much as possible. OB is about 12 minutes from my house - this gauruntees I get in the water when-ever I want (unless traveling for work of course).

I miss the warm water - but that can quickly become over-shadowed by fun waves.

It may be a classic cae of the "grass is always greener" cliche -- who knows.

I guess it's all about making the best with what you have  - and if you want to change it - change it.

    The End
