  • why do most of these guys wear full rubber on their legs?  I wasn't able to get in the water sunday or monday but I was in for hours on saturday (fun waves to be had where we were) and none of us (even the pack of middle school kids I was surfing with) were wearing any rubber and nobody was cold.  I understand there could be upwelling or cool breezes early in the AM but c'mon ---- wasn't that expression session in the early afternoon?  do you think the water is cold to these guys or is it some kind of wetsuit sponsorship thing. or just a habit. or superstition. or something else?

    Nope couldn't be that.

i guess you're right - the pageant bosses don't need to keep their pimp hands that strong - but if they did, it would give a whole new meaning to "nyc" pros getting paid to wear rubber - all that rubber didn't seem to weigh these guys down though - some serious air yesterday, even on small waves - these skate park air's really make taylor knox style power surfing look old fashioned.
