  • ok for you doctors, nurses, people who've stayed at a holiday inn express, anyone with any knowledge in the art of heeling rashes....

all summer long i have been "surfing related" rash free (and free of all those other kind of rashes you dirty people) untill yesterday.  i was in the water for over 4 hours yesterday and about the same today and i have developed serious armpit rashes - what can i put on these things right now to sooth them and make the burning go away  :'(

    thank you.

  • Rashguard Cream (actually an ointment) really works...even after you've rashed up. Expensive tho...$10 at the local shops!

For now, some A&D ointment may be best...

  • always pretreat before each session with vaseline (if you know you are going to surf for a few hours).  always works, never have a rash afterword.  If you do develop a rasj, I found that medicaided Gold Bond powder feels so soothing and tingly!  recommend it personally

  • Never tried the gold bond...done the vaseline, tho..and yeah, it works...but I heard it's no good if you're wearing the rubber, breaks it down. Don't know if that's true, well, at least for wetsuit rubber.  8)

  • I'm jealous. I could've paddled out yesterday and today but for some reason did not. I wish I had a rash right now. I wish I had an excuse for missing the surf.

  • I could have sworn I posted on this thread-then again I did refere to using KY-Jelly, is that against the rules due to the correlation?

  • Since Vaseline is petroleum based, it may break down the rubber in your wetsuit... Runners use a type of lube to prevent rashes, too -- the name is escaping me now, but I think it's called SportsSlick or something... you can definitely get it at Paragon -- the packaging looks like a stick of deoderant (sp?).

  • hate to say it because it will make you cringe.  the pain is only minorly because of the rash, most is due to the low grade infection that is inherent in these babies.  you can hit these suckers with isopropyl alcohol and it will clean the crap out of it...it'll be gone within 2 days, usually.  oh, it hurts like a son of a bitch for about 2 minutes.
