Dinged Carbon Prone Paddleboard

  • Board slipped and put a quarter to half-dollar sized ding in my Carbon Prone Paddleboard.

I've never repaired carbon fiber before.  Anyone have experience with this or can you point me in the right direction of someone that does a great job with carbon fiber repair work?

Want to get the board back in action asap.

    Thanks in advance!

  • You can lay the carbon fiber down and glass it just like you do with a regular fiberglass layup. Iím sure itís obvious but you should use epoxy resin.

  • Thanks!  Yeah seems to be a very similar process to typical ding repair, just with a different resin and cloth.  Board is hollow as well, so I guess I just need to lay several layers of cloth.

  • At this point all of my boards that require epoxy and/or CF repair go straight to Natures Shapes.  Too many guys that claim to know how to repair epoxy, don't.

  • Clearly I'm rusty when it comes to surfboard repair work as I have had others repair my boards for years.

All looked good, however when finish sanding I discovered an air pocket.  So I need to see if I can fix with resin otherwise I will have a professional complete the job.

Long story short, I wish I had brought a professional in.
