  • My favorite thing to eat after a long surf session is a nice chicken roll. R0ckawaybum aka Chris the "knucklehead" Caiazzo and I consider ourselves chicken roll connoisseurs. I've eaten chicken rolls all over the 5 boroughs and coincidentally one of my top 5 places to get a chicken roll is located right on r0ckaway. Elegante pizzeria on 92nd is the home of one of the best, if not "THE" best chicken rolls I've ever had. Have you had a really good chicken roll that you think is worth mentioning? Please post your best chicken roll expriences.

PS: If you go to Elegante and you want to give it a shot make sure you get some marinara sauce to dip the roll in.

  • I'll second that. Elegante serves up a fine, fine chicken roll indeed. When in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, check out Stromboli on University between 12th & 13th for a similarly fine chicken roll.

BUT the superstar of the Elegante menu has to be its often imitated, but never duplicated marinara slice.

    agreed.
You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.

  • There's a pizza joint on Driggs between N5 & N6 that has a facsimilie of the marina slice that just doesn't cut the mustard.

  • If your going to driggs pizza you have to get the grandma slice. Thats probably your best bet. I often find it a bit oily though.

  • funny -- was gonna mention that Driggs shop.  that chicken roll was my first meal when I moved to bklyn.  unpacking all day...hadn't eaten in 8 hrs...maybe that's my memory holds it as being good.  best Elegante: garlic knots w/ side of marinara -- total sleeper hit of the menu.
