  • So - I'm looking to delve into the world of a twin fin. Something on the classic side, shorter and full of speed. I'd consider myself proficient on your standard thruster. I'd like to support a local guy so some opinions on the local shapers and their take on a classic fish would be much appreciated! Glass on fins, that sorta deal. Anyone and every shaper from NY to NJ! I saw a really sweet josh hall twin keel but at 1300$ it's a bit outta the price range...

Also any other tips you can throw out my way would be cool, typically my shortboards are around 5'10 30ish liters, I'm a short 5'5 and have always heard ride a fish shorter than you! Sizing, rocker profiles, anything! Thanks!

  • Contact tim stamps. What youíll save in tax youíll spend on shipping. But youíll be pumped. Donít hesitate his board prices are below store retail by far.

  • Stamps is a great shaper and class act, so is Stretch. Been super happy with both shapers and havenít had the pleasure to deal with anyone local but Fly but that had to be 20 years ago.

  • I love my fish that Joe Falcone made me. It's a traditional San Diego style keel yet mine with a bit less foam in the nose. Feels pretty much perfect for our steep beachies, good for everything 2'- OH

  • First, kudos for looking for a local shaper, someone who can tailor a San Diego design to NY waves.  Though he's not "local" local, Larry Mayo makes great fish for east coast conditions, and great boards in general.

Canít go wrong w/ that...Wynn is truly a disciple of the twinzer. The ones he has on the rack at the OC Heritage are killer...definitely my next board order.

  • Is Bob Pitagno still shaping in CLI?
JSK swears by his Exotic fish.

So heavy you can't even pick it up.

  • Not to take anything away from Wynn, but if you're going to mention Pavel I'd say there are quite a few people up higher on that list. Skip, Lis, Mitzven, etc....

Brian Wynn. Heís responsible for the #2 & #3 entries on my personal ďbest fish of all timeĒ list. The only one ahead of him is Rich Pavel.

Your reading comprehension kinda  sucks, doesnít it? Iím speaking from my PERSONAL experience. As I havenít had boards from the shapers youíve mentioned, I canít comment on them. I have had fish from Pavel, Wynn, & a few others. Other than my Pavel, the Wynns were the best.
