  • A section of the toll road collapsed south of Puerto Nuevo.  Ugh, we were just on that road a few months ago.  Such a beautiful drive.

  • Yea Kids,

The Baja highway that connects Tijuana to Ensenada is out and is still out of this writing.  That does not mean you can't make it there...it just takes a bit longer is one lane each side when you hit La Mision / Ensenada (this were the toll road ends now).  From La Mission it takes about 1:15 to get to Ensenada where the famous San Miguel wave is....

There are tons of other things to do since this detour has happened.....like the Valle de Guadelupe....which is where the Mexican vinyards are....

Here is the link to a recent article I wrote on it http://www.live-swell.com/blog/2014/01/23/detour-baja-mexico-route-1-is-out-wine-tasting-please/

  • Thanks for the article Live Swell.  Nice to see an article about wine tasting rather than blood letting in those parts.   Aside from Toll Road collapse (gnarles) how's the safety factor these days driving around down there?   We did it alot back in the day but the last 7 or 8 years all one hears are horror stories.  Ah...Baja. Nothing like it.
