Bali and Lombok in January (rainy season)?

  • Anyone been to Bali/Lombok during the wet monsoons in January? I'm aware that the summer is best for waves and weather but January is all my wife an I have for a honeymoon. Will the rains be too much or does it rain hard for a few hours in the afternoon with the rest of the day relatively nice if not unbearably humid? Any input would be appreciated.
Alternatively we are looking at South Africa, so anyone with experiences in either location, opinions/advice/comments also welcome.

    Thanks!

  • last year the rainy season in Juanari and Februari had heaps of rain during the day, there's still good surf on the east side of bali though, but your wife might not appreciate the amount of rain that much.
2 years ago it was a mellow rainy season, with some very good uncrowded surf on the west coast of the Bukit, Uluwatu and Balanagan.
