  • Pretty cool:

Bunger Surf Shops 19th Annual Surf Classic at Gilgo Beach is August 12th.  Bungers have made arrangements to have the legendary David Nuuhiwa on hand to judge some heats, sign autographs and have some Q&A.

Way too far out for wave predictions..but the Bunger contest is always a good day overall. (Tow years ago, if I remember, the waves were really good!) Why not give it try and compete, YLG? I'll try and put up a registration form that you can download/print out and mail in..

Check you email in a couple if minutes.  I will email you the pdf.

The Bungers Surf classic is always a great day.  The last 4-5 years have had anywhere from decentswell to double overhead + hurricane swell.  2 or three years ago the head lifeguard at G***o came up to us about mid day and told us that the beaches were closed to the east and to the west and he was getting some pressure to close it down there.  Fortunately we had run all of the little folks events and all of the preliminary round in the older divisions.  By the end of the day the Open Final was well over Double O and guys were bailing left and right on the clean up sets.

The bunger contest is really popular and a TON of work for the ESA volunteers....with all the heats and needing to get the prelims, quarters, semi-mains and everything out of the way before any finals can be run, I'm guessing it would be hard, but you never know. Perhaps instead we can get your meeting moved to Gilgo? I'll make a few calls..  ;)

Cologero- I can't promise anything yet, but there is a very good chance you can make your other commitments.  Get me your entry and I will see where we stand with the Longboards heats.

We are going to run the Longboard events a little differently.  This comes after several requests.  We will be running Open Longboard.  Here's the way it will work.  The first round will have all surfers in the same divisions and will essentially be the final for those divisions.  We will however advance the top 50% from each heat to the next round so that surfers from different divisions will have an opportunity to surf against each other.  The points will be awarded based on the finish against surfers in the same division, but you will be able to surf with/against surfers that you normally don't.

  • can someone please register me for the contest or email me the entry form.  For some reason I cant get the entry form to open up through the bunger site.  That being said I aint the most computer literate so I am probably doing something wrong.
