  • So a friend of mine rides these boards. He's been trying to get me on one since last year. I have seen some of the nicest waves ever ridden by anyone, anywhere ever, these last two weeks. He rides a 6'6" Stoker V with a few tweaks.  Again some of the prettiest surfing I have ever seen. So much so he convinced me and is getting me one. Between 7' and 7'6". Fast clean lines, long drawn out carves. I can't wait for mine. So back to your question, send an email to the shaper ask his opinion. Tell him what you ride now and also tell him your skill level ( be honest ). He'll most undoubtley tell you which way to go. But man when surfed correctly, just farking beautiful.

  • I'm hoping someone has a used one laying around to buy it and try it. If it doesn't work for me, I figure I can get close to what I paid for it or trade for something else. I'm trying to get my hands on as many boards as I can to see what works for me. I'm still new and it's hard to ride different boards without dropping tons of cash.

  • Thanks for the lead Damian. I saw a posting on Montauk for a new one. Great deal but almost 4 hours from me. That's $100 in gas at least. At that point I might as well have one made and shipped, almost the same cost. I was hoping to pick one up in the $200-$400 range.

  • I don't think you'll have a lot of luck finding one in that price range.  I had a 7'2 that I sold a couple years ago.  I liked it but I think a shorter version would have been better for me... it had a ton of float and felt corky.  People tend to hold onto them.  If you get one shaped for you, at least there's a good chance you'll be able to sell quickly if it's not a good fit.  Mine sold in two days.

  • No idea who Danny Dimarco is.... but I think I'm just gonna order one. I didn't want to shell out the cash but the more I read about the board and the shaper, the more excited I get.

  • Danny DiMauro is the East Coast Rep for Stoker and works with Bruce F..  Great board and great shaper.

I got a 6'4" and really love the board.  Paddles like a long board and surfs like a shortboard.  Not a lot of rocker but if you work with Bruce he can make it have a bit more if you like that.  Ask him about the "Winter Foil".
