Natural surfboards and fins

  • I've just started my surfing life for several weeks and am considering to buy my own surfboard instead of borrowing from friends. My friends suggest me to buy a natural board and fin which is made of wood and fiberglass for riding great waves and maneuvering easily. I have checked a wooden fins on shaka-surf.com, and it looks nice. Has anyone got experience on this?

  • No such thing as a “natural” surfboard. There’s boards with some “eco” label but they’re essentially BS and marketing. A wooden board isn’t going to maneuver better than a regular poly board, many of what you see are just wooden veneers.

The most environmentally friendly way to buy boards is through local shapers. Ask what eco options  they have.

    Thanks for the advice Patches!
Guess I should check some local shapers too. They may offer alot of suitable eco options for a beginner like me!
    Thanks !
