Me too. My shortboarding has suffered greatly since the fall. Tongue this saturday was not a good day for me. I kooked so many waves on the new stick. It was a bummer. I finally gave up & got the performer. then I had a million waves until i couldn't stand up anymore.

I am Redeamed. I truely believe bnow that it was the wave style for sure messing with me. Yesterday I took out my 6.0 Fish I had a blast, the waves from the moment the light came up till I the tide was done filling in was amazing. The waves weere awesome, they rolled in & seemed the be punchy enough to get you in early & they just cruised. Unlike before where the waves hjust mushed along until the last moment when they'd just close out or judt dump too late.

My session was sick fun & then later it did sart to get closey but by then I had to go to ork so whateves. Today was awesome but my short boards would not have workd at all & Im glad I too the 9.0 out for some fun fun wavos.

Stoked.

What happens when it's 4ft and fast fun but you don't have your shortboard wired?

Im gonna chime in..
If the board is really to small thats another story.
If not, my rule as of a few weeks ago (Im trying to get the Anderson 6,6 wired )

Above head high? Whatever helps you survive
Chest to head? Shortboard instead
Below the knees? Do as you please

If a crippled old man can shortboard and have fun..well...its all about your additude.

That board got me all stoked out. I needed that, Thanks! You & NYCWO are wise. Like anything in life, Its all about the fun.

4 ft? Fast and fun? I'm thinking fish or single but any board should work in those conditions, no? If there's not much of a crowd, it'd be a good oppty to work a new short probably, but, brown trout, it sounds like Psycho ripped tits that day so....I'm thinking he made the right choice.
Another move is to bring 2 boards to the beach and ride one for a bit and then switch. I did this a lot when living in NY and today....I have become proficient at riding just about anything from a pair of fins to a fish to a log to a 10' gun to a 12' SUP. Of course, I probably couldn't even win an ESA shortboard heat, so take any advice I offer with a grain of salt. Undecided

bro I think abuot that alot but if you ask everyone out here that knows me i tend to stay waaaay away from teh crowd & im not fraid to go as far down as I bneed to do just tat in a decent wave by my lil lonesome. Im a lil skepticle about leaving anything on the beach in NS 3 unwatched while Im in the water. I want to do that. I just cant trust it. I could if i surfed up in the circus at the main surf beach but anywhere other then that is fair game. even by my house its a lil too shadey to leave an extra board laying around. Its 1 or the other.

Im not too worried, I got back to being my stoked self when i saty away from crowds. Ask Colegero, he practicaly begs me to ride certain boards or surf at a certain spot to keep me from blowing a fuse. lol! Ive calmed that waaay down with a general rule of eceptance. Good ole AA was good for something. "Lord, please grant me the sirenity to except the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can & have the wisdom tok now the difference!"

This video is a perfect example of what Im talking about minus the super winds.

http://nynjsurfvideos.magnify.net/item/PVD65G8P5WH3917K

Despite how windy this video is, its exactly what Ive been saying about the waves lately. You'd think with hoking winds like that it would help the wave open up & relax but even some of the recognisable seasoned surfers are getting closed out, barely making bottom turns. This is hwat has been torturing me. I pop up exctly the samer & just been getting stuck inside & closed out.

I did get a few good wavos on my fish the other day but only untill the tide switched & then it was like someone swithced off my ability to get in enough not to get closed out.
